Make It Do

2018. 85" x 86".

Phew - finally done, after seven tortuous years; it was started in 2011. The hand-pieced blocks in this quilt were leftovers from "Use It Up" - two quilts were constructed after dozens of original blocks were not playing nicely together in the original design. They had to be separated and now I have two happy results. This one, like its sister quilt, is hand-pieced and hand-appliqued, but differs in that it is heavily hand-quilted rather than machine-quilted. The unusual curved hexagonal block is a traditional pattern attributed to Laura Wheeler's "Rainbow Flower" ; templates can be found in the now defunct Quilter's Newsletter Magazine in its Feb/Mar 2011 issue.
