Novelty Sampler

2012. 86" x 86".

Hand-pieced and hand-quilted in a utility-style stitch using crochet thread, this traditional quilt took over six years to complete. (A few of the four-patches were completed before I began it by my middle-school-aged daughter, Gabrielle. She has now graduated from college and is a young working woman!) Most of the paired fabrics in the four-patches have some sort of connection; my favorite pair, I think, is the scallions paired with the sushi. I tried to make a dent in my novelty fabric collection, using them in the backing as well, but there is still a healthy amount in my cabinets. How does that happen...?
